New Features and Changes
- Ability to enter data from the main screen
Now you don’t need to double click a project or action item to edit it. You can now add and edit any items from the main screen.
Most of the grids are editable now. Only those grids that show assigned items, such as resources or assets are not.
- Show my items in ProjectTrack Today
ProjectTrack today can now show only the items associated to the user logged in.
You can turn this feature on and off in the “Project Track” today tab of the options dialog (Tools > Options)
- Show my items in grid views
Now grid views can also show only those items assigned or associated to the user logged in.
- New Dynamic Profiles
Projects are managed differently by different people and not everyone needs to keep track of all the items ProjectTrack offers. We added some standard profiles to the program.
Users can now select among three predefined profiles ( Enterprise, Professional and Personal), or create their own.
New Profile Wizard to help you decide what items you want to track in your projects.
- Automatic grouping when sorting a grid by a column
Following the way MS Outlook works, when the user clicks on a column, the grid will be grouped and then sorted by that column
- Visually grouping of columns
Users can now drag and drop columns at the top of the grid to group by that columns. Groups within groups are also allowed.
This option is also available by right-clicking an a column and select “Group By”
Groups can be cleared by dragging the grouping column out of the grid or by selecting the option “Clear Sort/Grouping” after right-clicking any column.
- Icon toolbar with captions
The new icon toolbar can show small and big icons with or without captions, to help new users getting use to the program
You can change the icon toolbar configuration by going to “View > Tool Bar”
- Modifications to the “Contacts” tab
Removed the grouping radio buttons at the left side of the window, since now they are not necessary.
When switching between the different views (Address Cards, Detailed Address Cards, Simple List, etc.) the program now saves the column configuration and allow users to select the visible columns for each view.
- Changed items labeled as “Resource” to “Asset”
- Changed items labeled as “People” to “Resource”
- Changed items labeled as “Client” to “Company”
- Resources and Contacts without a name, will display the name of the company when using the card view, just like Outlook.
- Users can now create Projects without assigning it to a company.
- Users can now create Action Items, Risks, Issues, etc. without assigning it to a Project.
- Improved Copy and Paste of items, while still allowing for Copy/Cut/Paste of text.
Changed to use Alt+C and Alt+V to copy and paste items, so Control+C and Control+V can be used to copy and paste text.
- Improvements in the export of documents
Changed the menu option "Export" to "Save as"
- Various database speed improvements
- Added a menu option under Help that links the program directly to the tutorials.
- Windows Vista compatibility
We are still working on ProjectTrack to make it 100% Vista compatible but we don’t expect to be done until after the summer. If you are using ProjectTrack under Vista, please report any errors so we can fix them as soon as possible.
ProjectTrack now saves its configuration files under the “Documents and Settings” folder to comply with Vista requirements.
Temporary files (i.e. when opening a document stored in the database) are now created in the user’s temp folder.

February 6, 2007 - Version 2007.1.8 (Build 659)
New Features
Now you can configure how you want to see people's name displayed; Last Name first (i.e. Smith, John) or First Name first (i.e. John Smith). The default is now Last Name first, but you can change it by going to Tools > Options and unchecking the "Display people's Last Name first" box.
- Ability to select what type of items you want to use with Clients and Projects
Not everyone uses all the types of items that ProjectTrack provides. For example, you may not care about client Locations or Departments or about keeping track of Initiatives and Programs. The same can be said about projects. You may want to track Action Items, but not Issues or Changes or Meetings.
Now you can define the items you want to use by default every time a new client or project is created. In addition, now you can also configure the items for each specific client and project.
If this is your first time working with ProjectTrack, The first run wizard will guide you thru the configuration of the default values.
You can always change the default values by clicking on the "Clients" or "Projects" branch of the tree and then selecting File > Default Properties from the menu. You can also right-click on the branch and select the same menu option from the pop-up menu.
To configure the items you want to use for a specific client or project, click on it and select File > Properties from the menu. You can also right-click on the branch and select the same menu option from the pop-up menu.
- Easier way to assigned people to items
Until now, to assign a person to a project related item, the person needed to be assigned first to the project. Not anymore. Now you can assign anyone to any item even if the person is not assigned to the project. It will make everything a little easier!
Changes
- New database update engine capable to handle more situations and automatically adapt to them.
- The about us window and other dialogs have been modified to make sure they display correctly when the user has non-standard fonts.
Error Fixes
This new release fixes some errors and inconsistent behaviors . Among the most important are:

- New indicator for Projects
We added a new indicator, so you can track the Importance of a project.
- Ability to save documents stored in the database
Now you can save a document that is stored in the database, without removing it from the database. We also made some improvements in the way documents are added and removed.
Changes
- Better handling of errors reported by MS Access. In some cases, if the user had any third-party add-ons for MS Outlook or was disconnected from the MS Exchange server, the synchronization process would fail. ProjectTrack can now handle many more errors reported by MS Outlook and, if it cannot handle the error, it will not crash.
- Double-clicking on the blank area of a details pane, will open the item the pane is related to.
- We made several changes in the way people and assigned people are handle. For example, when adding a new person and selecting her manager, the list of available managers is not filtered by the "Is manager" switch.
- Indicators are only saved and reload if the user made any changes to them. We changed the indicator's window and available actions to make it more consistent.
- Pressing [Esc] while in the indicators window, doesn't close the window anymore.
Error Fixes
This new release fixes a lot of error and inconsistent behaviors . Among the most important are:
- Fixes with MS Outlook synchronization.
- Fixed a problem when switching to the Resources tab in the Project dialog.

New Features
Now you can copy and paste any item. For example you can copy a project from one client to another.
Using copy and paste, you can create "template" projects. For example, you could create a new client called "Templates" and copy any items that you want to use as templates into this client. Later, you can copy any of those items from the "Templates" client into any other client or project.
A new tab has been added so you can maintain your contacts, related or unrelated to your projects.
The new contacts tab also allows you to synchronize your contacts between MS Outlook and ProjectTrack.
A new menu (Applications) has been added to all the windows. This menu can hold other applications you normally use, so you don't need to leave ProjectTrack to launch them.
The first time ProjectTrack starts, it will look for Microsoft applications and, if it finds any, it will incorporate them into the menu.
You can add, modify and delete applications from the menu by selecting the option Configure Applications
- Document Storage in Database
When adding documents to ProjectTrack now you can chose if you want to link to them or store the whole document in the database.
Storing documents in the database is very convenient if you are running ProjectTrack from a Memory device and use it in more than one computer.
To store a document in the database, make sure the checkbox Link to File is unchecked when adding a document.
- Sending of emails via Mailto
Mailto is the method use to call your email program when you click on an email link in your web browser. Now ProjectTrack can use the same method, regardless of the email program you use.
To use the MailTo method, go to Tools > Options > Use this email program and select the option Use 'MailTo' settings.
Changes
- We made some changes to the spreadsheet mode so it works more like a spreadsheet.
- Now you can click on the links displayed in the grids, just like you do in a web page.
- When right-clicking on a grid column and selecting Group By > the program now shows all the available columns.
Error Fixes
- All known errors have been fixed.
October 2, 2006 - Version 2007.0.6 (Build 341)
Changes
- The spreadsheet mode has been redesign to better mimic the behavior of a real spreadsheet. A lot of changes were made to make it more user friendly.
- Arranging of columns (Right-click on a grid column and select arrange by) is more intuitive and now allows you to select more than one column. For example, now you can see a list of action items, arranged by Project and then by Assignee.
- States (as in Political States or Provinces) can now be defined. Just click on the edit icon at the right of the state drop down to add, modify and delete you own list of states.
- The status bar clock now uses the formatting options defined by the operating system.
- Now it is possible to change the project a team belongs to. To do it, open the team and click on the icon at the right of the project name.
- Better status update when deleting items.
- Now it is possible to export a detail report by clicking on the Export button.
- The "Days Since/To" column (that indicates the number of days until an item should be done or, if it is already done, the number of days since it was done) has been redesign and now it shows better, more detail information.
- While browsing clients, locations and people using the "Business Card View", now it is possible to move rows up and down.
- Menus have changed and a new 'Collaboration' menu has been added in preparation for the upcoming "Collaborative Edition" of ProjectTrack.

- Disabled the success message when the database was compacted successfully at exit.

New Features
- New update manager.
ProjectTrack can now detect if there are new updates for the program and will allow you to automatically download them and install them.
A new option has been added to the Options dialog to define if you want ProjectTrack to automatically check for updates. This option is enabled by default. If you disable it, you can always manually check for updates by going to the Help menu and selecting the option: Check for updates.
- User management updates
The user management tool (you can access it from the Tools Menu) has been modified and expanded in preparation for the new multi-user version (Code named: Collaborative Edition) of ProjectTrack. There are two main enhancements:
- When a new user is created using the User Management Tool, a new person is also created in the selected company.
- A new column has been added the user management screen to indicate if a user is logged on. Any user with administrative rights can clear the logged on flag and mark the user as not logged on.
- Ability to add an email subject line to the Email templates.
Email Templates can now include a subject line. When a new email is send using an email template, the subject line will be automatically included.
- Colors and messages in Project Track Today.
Items displayed in Project Track today will have different colors depending of when they are due.
- Items not due yet, will show in black
- Items due today will be show in black and bold
- Items pass due will show in Red
- Completed Items will show in Green
- Sort order in Project Track Today.
The sorting order has been expanded to use indicators such as importance, status, severity as well as the assignee. Now you can sort for a second field after the first one. Go to Tools > Options > Project Track Today to define the display order.
- Ability to expand and contract list in Project Track Today.
Items grouped by Project or Client can now be expanded and contracted while in the Project Track Today view.
- New grid column
A new column has been added to all the relevant grids to indicate the number of days until an item is due and/or the number of days since the item was completed.
- Ability to minimize the program to the tray.
Now you can minimize Project Track to the tray (where the clock is, at the right side of the Start bar)
While Project Track is minimized, you can right-click on its icon an add any type of item without recalling the program.
You can control this behavior by going to Tools > Options > Preferences
